Physical Limitations as Learning Advantages

A physical practice most often works toward developing stuff like strength, flexibility, joint mobility and coordination. When some or all of these things don’t get immediately dialed in, anyone can be left feeling deficient. And sadly, from outside, we look at someone’s superficial level proficiency in any of these things as credible.

What we don’t always get when seeing impressive super movers doing mind-blowing stuff from scrolling through our tiktok, youtube or instagram feed is…context.

But what if someone told you that being physically weak, inflexible and uncoordinated are of considerable value to develop and sustainably excel in your practice? … and even sustain and surpass the level of proficiency you observe in a lot of the superstars you are inspired by?This VS looks at both the Baseworks Micromovement principle and the Baseworks concept of Anti Functional Movement for how to rewire the body’s ability to deeply absorb the appropriate level of feedback necessary for developing body awareness. Cultivating this stage of tuning in-to your bodies variable condition, is crucial to scaling physical development of any kind.

The theoretical part of the session will look at the innocence of ignorance, the reward of acceptance, and most importantly how to side step the overconfident mindlessness that comes from becoming skilled… so that you can always embrace the endless benefits of beginner’s mind.

This VS will be approximately 40% theory and 60% practice.

What are virtual Sessions?

Virtual Sessions are a “live” educational format offered on the Baseworks Practice Platform.

Whereas the Online Practice Sessions are designed to provide the opportunity to develop your practice through repetition, the Virtual Sessions are designed to provide real-time feedback and insight, which can then be re-applied during the Online Practice Sessions.

The level of interactivity in the Virtual Sessions is dependent on the interest/involvement of the participants and may vary from session to session.

Each virtual session lasts from 60 to 90 minutes.
